Sustainable Tourism
Protecting the environment for the people and places we visit is a top priority at Trafalgar. We are dedicated to ensuring our destinations remain preserved for future generations to enjoy, and are committed to minimising the environmental impact of our operations worldwide.
Conservation Foundation Trafalgar is a founding partner of The Travel Corporation’s Conservation Foundation, a non-profit organisation established in 2008. So far, the Foundation has committed over US$2 million to help underprivileged communities and support sustainable tourism around the world.National Trust The Conservation Foundation is proud to support the National Trust in its project to build new environmentally sustainable visitor facilities at Northern Ireland’s iconic World Heritage listed Giant’s Causeway. The new facilities will provide greater interpretation on the headland and better access trails so that visitors can explore more of this breathtaking place.Proudly using 100% recycled paper As part of The Travel Corporation, Trafalgar is proud to be using 100% recycled paper for the body of all our brochures. Some of the positive impacts of this include saving more than 90,000* trees per year, reducing landfill waste and consuming a fifth of the energy required to make paper from primary fibres. We are committed to using one of the most environmentally-friendly coated recycled papers on Planet Earth. *Calculations based on data from the Environmental Defence FundFuel efficient coaches With improvements in technology, our coaches offer greater fuel efficiency while also emitting fewer pollutants. Trafalgar is continually upgrading its motorcoach fleet and we are proud to have one of the best, ensuring less harmful emissions enter the atmosphere.Carbon neutral travel For those emissions that can’t be reduced, carbon neutralising allows you to contribute to projects that are greening the planet. Trafalgar has partnered with Sustainable Travel International™, giving you the option to calculate the carbon footprint of your travel and contribute towards projects that will reduce C02 emissions in the atmosphere. This voluntary scheme invites you to make a small contribution based on the amount of carbon likely to be generated from your travel. You can choose to offset flights, coach travel or the energy consumed staying in hotel accommodation. |
